Improving the professional skills of teachers has become the topic of the next issue of the online program “Educational Environment”.

The experts drew special attention to the fact that professional development should be carried out not once every three years, but constantly and continuously.

“A modern teacher must respond flexibly to all the changes that occur in our life, and therefore the model of continuous professional education is especially relevant. Professional development is a willingness to change according to circumstances, to learn something new. If you do not do this, you can fall out of the cage, but then the teacher will no longer correspond to the present day, ”says Olga Krasnoshlykova, Rector of the Kuzbass Regional Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Educators, Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.

Svetlana Kulikova, Doctor of Pedagogy, Rector of the Volgograd State Academy of Postgraduate Education, shares the same opinion.

“Continuing education is not just courses: it is necessary for the teacher to be able to acquire new knowledge, skills and abilities on the job,” she commented.

At the same time, one of the most important ways of professional growth of teachers remains “horizontal training”, the formation of a pedagogical community.

Today in Russia there are a large number of organizations offering advanced training programs, and teachers can only choose what they need, experts say.

“The most important thing in education is motivation, and if a person wants to study, he will find an opportunity to improve his qualifications,” says Olga Kovalchuk, Doctor of Pedagogy, Rector of the Leningrad Regional Institute of Education Development.

The programs involve the elimination of deficiencies that are identified among specialists as a result of federal and regional monitoring, and experts from different regions of the country are involved in this work, recalls Irina Babkina, PhD in Pedagogy, Director of the Center for Continuous Professional Development of Pedagogical Workers in the Voronezh Region.

“Today it is relevant to talk not only about individual educational routes for children, but also about individual routes for teachers,” she says.

Olga Krasnoshlykova is also confident that the task of advanced training institutes and centers of professional excellence is to provide teachers with the opportunity to build a line of self-education, their own individual trajectory of development.

Svetlana Kulikova recalled that experts will help teachers find methodological techniques and mechanisms that will be useful to them in their work.

“We keep our finger on the pulse, help teachers, show them the full range of their professional capabilities. We have a team of methodologists who will always support teachers, ”Olga Kovalchuk supported her colleagues.

Irina Babkina noted that Russian teachers need a unified system of scientific and methodological support. In her opinion, three areas will develop in the future: global educational platforms of a federal scale for teachers, regional educational formats and professional communities of practice.

“The task of the centers of professional skill is scientific and methodological support of the teacher in his professional development,” the expert summed up.
